Alphonse Mucha Collection
The most important author of the Art Nouveau movement, a leading representative of the fin de siècle.<\/strong>
Born on July 24, 1860, in Ivančice, Moravia of the Austrian Empire (now the Czech Republic), he died on July 14, 1939, in Prague (at the age of 78). Alphonse Mucha was a highly influential yet often overlooked figure in art history. He played a more significant role than anyone else in the creation of the 'modern' or 'art nouveau' style that emerged at the turn of the century. Alphonse applied his considerable talents across a very wide range, from painting and sculpture to creating posters, illustrations, magazines, and calendars, including in the fields of product design and architecture.<\/p>
